We are a family-owned factory operating as PT Coco Total Essential Oil Indonesia (NPWP: 61.158.372.6-723.000, NIB: 8955548793700), located at Jl. Mayor Unus KM 1.5, Magelang 56172, Central Java, Indonesia.
Manufacturing started in 1984 with virgin coconut oil. In 1996 we added clove essential oil. In 2001 we expanded into patchouli oil production, sourcing premium dried leaves from Aceh's Gayo highlands, North Sumatra, and South Sulawesi — the regions that make Indonesia the world's largest patchouli producer, supplying roughly 85–90% of global demand. Since 2025 we export our essential oils directly worldwide — bypassing local middlemen. We supply wholesale bulk patchouli oil, iron-free grades, aged patchouli, and offer OEM (private label) manufacturing.

Indonesia produces approximately 85–90% of the world's patchouli oil and is the recognized international benchmark for Pogostemon cablin origin. Optical rotation in the range −66° to −40° is the fastest test that authenticates true Indonesian Pogostemon cablin and excludes blends with Pogostemon heyneanus (Indian patchouli, dextrorotatory range) or cedarwood-based adulterants.

Patchoulol is the molecule responsible for patchouli oil's exceptional fixative power — its ability to anchor and extend the longevity of every other note in a perfume composition. Fine fragrance houses formulate against minimum patchoulol thresholds (typically ≥ 30 %) and pay sliding-scale premiums above 32 % and 34 %.
Our three grades target distinct patchoulol bands: Standard Dark (28–32 %) for industrial fragrance, soap, and detergent applications; Light Iron-Free (32–35 %) for cosmetic OEMs and mid-tier perfumery; Molecular Distilled (35 %+) for prestige perfumery and applications requiring near-colorless oil with maximum fixative density.

All distillation, condensation, and intermediate storage surfaces are pharmaceutical-grade stainless steel. No carbon steel anywhere in the wetted path. For Light and MD grades, additional polishing through 316L mirror-finished vessels keeps iron content below the cosmetic-formulation threshold of 1 ppm.
Every batch is explicitly screened for and reported "Not Detected" for: Gurjun balsam markers (calarene, α-gurjunene), cedarwood-derived fractions (α-cedrene, cedrol), synthetic patchoulol stereoisomers, dipropylene glycol (DPG), mineral oil residues, and undeclared blending with Pogostemon heyneanus (Indian patchouli).
Most Indonesian patchouli supply originates from rural Sumatran and Sulawesi cottage stills that share equipment across patchouli, nutmeg, and clove — introducing eugenol, safrole, and myristicin cross-contamination markers that cause downstream rejections under EU IFRA and FDA inspection. Patchouli oil is one of the few essential oils whose olfactory profile improves over time. Properly stored, the harsh top-notes of fresh distillate mellow into a refined, balsamic, wine-like character that fine perfumery houses prize. Sealed in epoxy-lined steel or aluminum, stored at 15–25 °C, away from direct sunlight, with RH < 65 %, the oil remains stable and commercially viable for 5 years or more. Re-blanket headspace with nitrogen after partial use. Avoid contact with bare carbon steel, copper, and brass.
